Naturally, when in Greece you expect to experience the ‘real’ Greece. Absorbing traditional sights, sounds and daily life, which here on the legendary island of Crete are distinctly unique and intense.
A lot of opportunities await you on our island, Nikos is always at hand to give you some insider tips or advice on how to plan your daytime or night-time excursions.
But, how about tasting excellent Greek wines or sipping on chilled champagne as you laze by the pool, listening to the waterfall gently cascading down the rocks next to you? or preparing and serving your dinner on your own personal terrace beneath the incredible starlit night sky by candlelight ?
At Villa Daniela we want your experience to be without compromise. The quality and modern style of our accommodation, from the building construction through to the furniture and decoration will surprise and delight you. So, relax and enjoy your holiday with us without compromising on quality.
Sun & Sea
Either lying next to one of our luxurious pools or whilst dipping a toe into the crystal-clear sea on one of the several wonderful beaches in the area, you will constantly be accompanied by the warm embracing Cretan sun. Experience crystal clear seas and endless blue sky in all their glory.
The Long Beach (visible from your pool), is the longest beach to be found on our island. Its coarse greyish sand stretches for more than 2km and its deep crystal-clear water invites a feeling of absolute calmness. You will be sure to find a great spot even at the height of summer.
During your time at the beach you can bask in the liberty of the natural beach areas or delight in lying in an organized part of the beach (umbrellas and sunbeds are free to use). If you feel hungry, but can’t bear to leave the amazing clear waters and relaxing beach, then simply visit one of the many high quality taverns and restaurants to be found along the sea shore. Enjoy quality traditional Greek food at its best. Why not try fresh fish cooked at one of the island’s best restaurants?
The Long Beach is situated directly in front of you, a heartbeat from the residence (1.5km driving or walking distance). Of course, our area boasts many other wonderful beaches, some large and organized and others which lay off the beaten track, laying secluded and hidden, just waiting for you to discover them. These beaches, many of which are reminiscent of scenes from movies can be found all along the coast in distances from 2 to 20km.
Sports
Being passionate ourselves about sport, we simply could not ignore this side of life, which for us is just one more of life’s daily pleasures for us here on Crete. What could be better than a little physical exercise in a shaded corner, whilst gazing down across the endless Cretan sea and feeling the relieving cooling touch of the fresh sea breeze?
Our fitness area offers a shaded outdoor space enjoying uninterrupted views to the sea and the blue horizon. The gym is well equipped with new treadmills, spinning bikes and some other smaller items you would expect to find in a personal gym.
For those wishing to venture out and explore the amazing Cretan countryside, our large fleet of road and mountain bikes is available at all times. For those less sportily inclined guests we also have several e-bikes available. With just a fraction of the effort required to pedal a normal bike, these bikes will whisk you effortlessly around the local area.
Nikos is a passionate and experienced cyclist and is always keen to help you with advice, instructions and even with company if you wish.
We are both very passionate and enthusiastic about sports and we are more than happy to share our knowledge, experience and enthusiasm with you.
Relax
Every unit at Villa Daniela sports its own large terrace with direct access to one of the pools, where, as you relax and soak up the warmth of the Cretan sun you can be forgiven for being deceived by your eyes. The water in front of you will appear to flow magically from the pool outwards towards the deep blue Aegean Sea.
Turning away from the deep blue sea you will experience the feel embraced by the surrounding mountainside. The rich smells of Thyme, Salvia and Pine are gently brought to you by the soft sea breeze. The only disturbance to your peace and silence will be the occasional call of distant sea birds or the rustling sea breeze as its filters through the mountain forests.
On the hottest days, the sea breeze brings not only the fragrant mountain air, but also welcome relief from the warmth of the Cretan sun.
And if the beach is your favorite, then the Long beach, one of Crete’s most secluded beaches, stretches in front of you at a short distance from the Villa. The coarse greyish sand quickly changes to a fine white sand as you take your first steps into the warm crystal-clear waters of the Aegean. Here you can lay down quiet and even fall asleep…
If you find it difficult to leave the beach behind at the end of each day, then fear not. The perfect way to relax after a day of fun and exploration is to ponder the moon’s silver light reflecting up at you from the sea below, whilst sat on your terrace, taking in the incredible night sly and sipping on a mature red wine.
Gastronomy
Food fit for the Gods! Dare yourself to become part of Cretan life for a few days. Our island boasts a large variety of authentic taverns, kafeneion (Cretan coffee shops) and restaurants. Everywhere you go from the remotest mountain village to the bustling seaside towns, you will find high quality authentic food and drink.
Sit back and watch as the old grandma prepares her family’s ancient recipes for you in the village tavern, or if you prefer, observe the skillful way the waiter serves you at a romantic seaside restaurant.
